The Meliora School maintains safety systems, procedures, and partnerships designed to protect students, staff, and visitors while supporting a safe and welcoming learning environment.

Safety and Crisis Planning
The Meliora School maintains a comprehensive school safety plan developed with guidance from state, federal, and local emergency-management and public-safety partners. The plan is reviewed regularly, shared with staff, and practiced through age-appropriate drills.
- Emergency response and reunification planning.
- Routine fire, severe-weather, evacuation, lockdown, secure, and shelter procedures as appropriate.
- Coordination with local emergency responders.
- Family communication during emergencies.
Emergency Response Systems
Consistent with Georgia requirements, the school maintains emergency-response systems that include a mobile panic-alert capability connected with emergency responders and current digital school mapping information available to authorized public-safety agencies.
Detailed safety plans, floor plans, camera locations, access controls, and drill schedules are not posted publicly.
Reporting a Safety Concern
Students, families, staff, and community members should report threats, weapons, violence, bullying, self-harm concerns, or other potentially harmful activity promptly.

Closures and Delays
During severe weather or another emergency, the school will communicate closures, delays, early dismissals, or schedule changes through its established communication channels.
Families should monitor the school website and direct school communications. Outdoor activities may be modified, moved indoors, postponed, or canceled when conditions create a safety concern.

Required Facility Notices
Asbestos Management Plan
In accordance with the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act, the school maintains an asbestos management plan and required inspection records. The plan is available for public inspection through the school office during normal business hours.
Pesticide and Integrated Pest Management
The school uses integrated pest-management practices and provides required notice concerning pesticide applications. Families may contact the school for information about planned applications, records, or applicable notification procedures.
