Academics at Meliora

Specialized Programs

Meliora responds to each learner’s strengths and needs with advanced learning, targeted intervention, counseling, and access to specialized services.

Our Approach

Support Built Around the Learner

Student support is not one-size-fits-all. Our team reviews learner needs, provides appropriate instruction and intervention, monitors progress, and works with families to determine meaningful next steps.

01

Gifted Education

The Gifted Education Program provides academically advanced students with challenging learning experiences designed to foster critical thinking, creativity, and deeper exploration of content. Students who meet Georgia eligibility criteria receive differentiated instruction to help maximize their potential.

02

Remedial Education Program

The Remedial Education Program, or REP, provides supplemental instruction and support for eligible students in grades 6–12 who need additional assistance in English language arts or mathematics. The program helps learners close skill gaps and work toward state academic standards.

03

School Counseling

School counseling supports academic achievement, college and career readiness, and social-emotional development. Services may include guidance, individual or small-group support, crisis response, and referrals to community resources when appropriate.

04

Multi-Tiered System of Supports

MTSS is a framework for providing timely academic, behavioral, and social-emotional interventions based on individual student needs. The school uses ongoing data review and progress monitoring to determine the appropriate level of support.

The MTSS Process

From Concern to Coordinated Support

Families and staff work together throughout the process. Supports are reviewed and adjusted based on the learner’s progress and current needs.

1

Identify

A family member or staff member identifies an academic, behavioral, attendance, or social-emotional concern.

2

Review

The team reviews classroom performance, existing supports, and relevant student information.

3

Support

The team selects targeted strategies or interventions and communicates the plan with the family.

4

Monitor

Progress is reviewed over time. Supports are adjusted and appropriate next steps are discussed.
