Enrollment for 2027–2028
The Meliora School is accepting applications for the 2027–2028 school year. We serve students in grades 6–8 and provide a tuition-free public school option for eligible Gwinnett County families.
Who can apply
Grades served
Meliora serves students in grades 6–8 for the 2027–2028 school year.
Residency
Enrollment is open to students eligible to attend Gwinnett County Public Schools. There is no tuition, entrance exam, or academic requirement to apply.

The Meliora School welcomes eligible students from all backgrounds and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, disability, or any other protected status.
How enrollment works
Our enrollment process is designed to be clear, fair, and accessible for every family.
Submit an application
Families complete the online application during the open enrollment period. No essays, interviews, testing, or academic records are required.
Lottery, if needed
If more students apply than there are available seats in a grade, admission is determined through a random public lottery.
Offers and confirmation
Families offered a seat will receive instructions and a deadline to confirm enrollment. Unconfirmed seats are offered to the next eligible student.
Next steps
Families who are not immediately offered a seat will be notified directly by the school regarding their next steps.
Lottery priority order
If a lottery is required, available seats are offered according to Meliora’s approved admissions policy and applicable Georgia law.

Currently enrolled students Students already enrolled at Meliora do not re-enter the lottery for the following school year.

Siblings of enrolled students Brothers and sisters of currently enrolled Meliora students may receive priority for available seats.

Children of school employees Employee preference may apply only as permitted by law and the school’s approved admissions policy.

All other eligible applicants Any remaining seats are filled through a random lottery of completed eligible applications.

Is there a cost to attend?
No. The Meliora School is a tuition-free public charter school.
Do I need to test in or submit grades to apply?
No. Students do not need to test in or submit academic records to apply. If applications exceed available seats, placement is determined through a lottery.
What grades does Meliora serve?
For the 2027–2028 school year, The Meliora School serves students in grades 6–8.
Does my address matter?
Students eligible to attend Gwinnett County Public Schools may apply. Meliora does not have a separate neighborhood attendance zone.
