Parent & Family Engagement
Families are partners in every Meliora learner's education, not spectators. This page explains how we involve parents and guardians in planning, how we build capacity to support learning at home, and how to get involved right now.
Family engagement in programs
Parents help plan, review, and improve the programs their learners take part in. This is required under Title I, Part A of the Every Student Succeeds Act, and it is how we want it to work regardless.
A voice in school plans
Parents have opportunities to help shape the school improvement plan, the Parent and Family Engagement Plan, the school-family contract, and the annual Title I meeting.
Accessible by design
Engagement opportunities are offered in multiple languages and accessible formats for families with limited English proficiency, literacy barriers, disabilities, or economic hardship.
Feedback, twice a year
Families are surveyed and invited to give feedback at least twice a year to inform the school improvement plan and Title I budget decisions.
Building parent and guardian capacity
We provide resources, training, and opportunities so families can support learning at home and engage effectively with the school.
Workshops and events
Standards-based workshops, literacy and math nights, and informational sessions on assessments, curriculum, and technology, held throughout the school year.
Communication in multiple formats
Information about student achievement, Title I programs, and engagement opportunities goes out by email, the school website, newsletters, and printed bulletins.
Staff training
School leaders and staff are trained on effective communication with parents and strategies for building strong family-school partnerships.
Engagement in school governance
Parent voice extends beyond the classroom into how the school itself is run.
Advisory committees
Parents and guardians may serve on parent advisory groups, school improvement teams, or other committees where input is sought on school programs and policies.
Governing Board membership
Parents and guardians may be elected to a position on the school's Governing Board, consistent with the Board's adopted bylaws.
Communication and support
Meliora is committed to a positive, collaborative relationship with every family.

- ✓Encouragement, not mandatesParticipation is strongly encouraged, but never made a condition of enrollment or student success.
